ABOUT
The Geospatial Analysis for Development Initiative makes geospatial data and tools accessible to researchers, analysts, and policymakers working in international development.
OUR MISSION
The Geo4Dev Initiative is run in collaboration between New Light Technologies Inc., the Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA) at UC Berkeley, and 3IE (International Initiative for Impact Evaluation).
Our mission is to ensure geographic data sources are not limited only to those with technical backgrounds, but instead truly fulfill their open-source promise and potential. We provide accessible, research-ready tutorials and tools for researchers and practitioners worldwide.
OBJECTIVES
Curate timely and relevant journals, datasets, and publications on geospatial data for development.
Develop accessible learning modules that walk users through novel geographic datasets and methods.
Build mapping tools and data browsers for exploring geotagged research and datasets.
Host symposiums bringing together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners in geospatial analysis.
Connect researchers and analysts across institutions working with geospatial data for development.
Promote open access to geospatial datasets for international development research.
